David’s studies moved beyond “on the job” in a number of directions — including professional certifications, personal mentors, and studies with some of the most recognized leadership authorities in the world.
John Maxwell is recognized as the leading worldwide authority in leadership, with 200+ writings and classes. David’s exposure to his work began through an early mentor, followed by several opportunities to study directly with John starting in 2003 — beginning a cycle of sharing the Maxwell library with David’s own mentees. David formally certified with the John Maxwell Leadership Team in 2025, and now includes a number of Maxwell Leadership Library courses in his masterclasses.
The Circle Widens
Dr. Lance Secretan has been a top-10 worldwide leadership authority for decades. David met and began studying with Lance in 2005, continuing those Pathfinder studies to this day. Over the years, he’s also joined teams Lance formed to prepare marketing and class materials for several of his books.
David was previously certified by the Franklin Covey organization to instruct the 7 Habits programs, including 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens and 7 Habits of Highly Effective People. He has also participated in sessions with Ken Blanchard and Marshall Goldsmith.
Continual growth is both a class subject and a personal commitment.
