Potential

Foundation 3: Potential

You Already Are Who You’re Trying to Become

Think about a leader you’ve watched perform at their absolute best: fully present, fully engaged, making it look almost effortless. Now ask yourself whether that description matches how they’re showing up right now.

It just naturally occurs because of the accumulated weight of daily demands: the pressure, the pace, the quiet erosion of confidence that comes from operating below your best for too long.  All of this creates distance between who someone is and who they already have the capacity to be.

That distance is not permanent. And closing it doesn’t require becoming someone different. It requires becoming, more fully and more deliberately, who you already are.

The Potential foundation inside Reclaiming Brilliance™ is built on a premise that Maslow named, Brené Brown expanded, and the research has repeatedly confirmed: the ceiling most people accept as fixed is, in nearly every case, a belief rather than a boundary. Matthew Syed’s work on extraordinary performance makes the same case that what we call “natural talent” is almost always the residue of deliberate practice directed at a specifically identified potential. The ceiling moves when the belief does.

What the Growth work actually delivers is the last mile of the Reclaiming Brilliance™ journey and arguably the most personal. Purpose established the why. Growth closed the gap between current performance and past best. Potential asks the question that sits underneath both of those: who are you actually capable of becoming from here?

Participants move through a five-step Potential Activation Plan starting with the most recent clear memory of themselves operating at their best (which turns out to be evidence, not nostalgia). They honestly name what’s blocking the return to that level, connecting their potential to their purpose so the two are pulling in the same direction.  They identify the one bold stretch move and then make the daily choice to show up as the full version of who they already have the capacity to be.

For organizations, Potential work changes what leadership development looks like at scale. It shifts the frame from “fixing what’s broken” to “surfacing what’s already there” and that reframe alone tends to change the energy in the room.

If your event or program needs to leave people not just informed but genuinely moved to act on themselves, their teams, and the performance they know they’re capable of Potential is where that shift happen

Let's talk about what this looks like for your group.
